The impact of the Russia-Ukraine war on global logistics (EN)

The escalation of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has changed the logistic situation in the region: the largest ports on the Black Sea, have practically suspended operations.

Ocean Freight

All floating cargo initially bonded to Ukraine will now be redirected to neighboring ports such as Constanta (Romania), Tekirdag (Turkey), Piraeus (Greece), Batumi and Poti (Georgia), among others.

Road Freight

In 2020, Russia accounted for a large part of EU road import (10.7%) and export (7.8%) volumes. Major road carriers halted operations to these two countries. Alternative road transport routes, for example via Turkey and Southern Caucasus countries such as Georgia, will likely benefit from the current disruption due to their flexibility.

The current situation causes new challenges both regionally and globally. In search of alternative solutions emerge new opportunities.
